There are a number of elements that must be evaluated to determine if your building is a good site for a solar system. These include:
In Australia, it’s ideal to place panels on a north-facing roof. Ideally, your panels will be free from shade during the peak sunlight hours. Mission Solar and Electrical is happy to inspect your property to determine the best positioning for panels on your building.
Your grid-connected system will directly feed into your home’s internal electrical grid—ensuring all home appliances receive power from the system. The amount of solar power delivered to your home appliances depends on the instantaneous power being produced by the solar panels at the time. If there is insufficient power from solar, then the electrical grid supplies the balance.
A grid-connected system requires very little maintenance. The solar panels may need cleaning from time to time. Always observe all occupational health and safety requirements, such as working from heights, e.g., roof-mounted systems. When solar panels are tilted 15 degrees or more, rain run-off can help to keep them clean. However, local conditions will ultimately dictate the frequency and degree of cleaning.
For safety reasons, the grid-connected inverter automatically shuts itself off during a blackout, so as to prevent backfeeding the grid. The system switches off until mains electricity is restored.
